The oceans produce half of the oxygen on the planet. And they have been our best allies in the fight against climate change, absorbing a third of greenhouse gases and 90% of the heat produced by human activities. If global warming isn’t out of control yet, it’s because the oceans are saving us from unsustainable living conditions. But the price is very high: warming and acidification of water, loss of biodiversity and productivity, anoxia. How much longer can we go on like this?
